1. MINIMAL DATA PROCESSING
DjinnScan does not create user accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or phone number. Most processing happens locally on your device. Some optional features require occasional server requests, described below.
2. LOCALLY STORED DATA
The following data is stored ONLY on your phone (AsyncStorage): • Investigation Journal sessions • Preferences (language, sound, alerts, haptics, navigation) • Premium status (validated by Apple/Google) • Disclaimer acceptance This data never leaves your device.
3. NETWORK FEATURES (opt-in)
When you use certain features, DjinnScan occasionally sends data to our backend and third-party services:
a) K-II Communication & AI answers Your text question is sent to our backend and relayed to Anthropic Claude (AI). The question and answer are not linked to any personal identifier and are not stored after processing.
b) EVP Transcription (Premium) When you record an EVP and request transcription, the audio file is sent to our backend and relayed to OpenAI Whisper. The file is processed then deleted. No audio is archived on our servers.
c) Premium voice (Spirit Box / K-II) The text to voice is sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio. The text is not tied to any personal identifier.
d) Error reporting (Sentry, optional) When enabled, Sentry receives only technical information (error type, screen, app version, OS, device model). No audio, no photos, no transcriptions, no journal content, no personal data is transmitted.
e) Purchases & subscriptions (RevenueCat) In-app purchases are handled by Apple/Google and by RevenueCat for receipt validation and cross-device restoration. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier, the platform and the entitlement status. No payment card data ever transits through DjinnScan.
4. SENSORS USED
• Camera: real-time visual analysis. No photo/video saved without your explicit action (capture button). • Microphone: continuous ambient sound level measurement (WITHOUT recording). Audio recording ONLY when you explicitly start an EVP or K-II voice question. • Magnetometer: magnetic field measurement in µT (never transmitted). • Accelerometer: pendulum motion detection (never transmitted). • Haptics: tactile feedback (no data collected).
5. CAPTURES & SHARING
Photos, videos and screenshots stay on your device. The "Share" button uses your OS share intent (Apple/Google): DjinnScan has no access to the chosen destination.
6. PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTIONS
Subscriptions are managed directly by Apple App Store or Google Play. DjinnScan does NOT process any payment information. No credit card is transmitted to our servers.
7. ADVERTISING
No advertising in the current version. If ads are ever introduced, ATT (iOS) and GDPR (EU) compliant consent will be requested first.
8. YOUR GDPR RIGHTS
In compliance with GDPR: • Right of access: your local data is visible in the app (Journal, Settings). • Right to erasure: use "Delete my data" in Settings, or uninstall the app. • Right to object: you can disable network features by not using AI / EVP / Premium voice. • Right to portability: journal export is available (Premium feature).
9. SUBPROCESSORS
Our technical subprocessors (US/EU): • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI answers • OpenAI (Whisper) — audio transcription • ElevenLabs — Premium voice synthesis • RevenueCat — purchase validation / restore • Sentry — error reporting (when enabled) • Emergent — backend hosting Each applies its own privacy terms. Data transmitted contains no personal identifiers.
10. CHILDREN
DjinnScan is intended for users aged 13 and older. No data from children under 13 is knowingly collected.
11. RETENTION
Local data is kept as long as the app is installed and until you erase it. AI / transcription requests are not archived; server technical logs are kept for a maximum of 30 days for abuse prevention, then deleted.
12. SECURITY
All communications with our backend and third-party services use HTTPS/TLS. Our AI model key is never included in the mobile bundle — it is stored server-side only.
13. MODIFICATIONS
This policy may evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top will be changed accordingly.
